Hey, Girl!

I'm Jennifer

Brand Designer + Strategist
and Business Boo Thang

I'm here to alleviate the headache of design dilemma while encouraging you to step into your best self and grow your business online. I know what it's like to hesitate to step out into the world because visually, you don't have your shit together. I'm going to rescue you from the dreaded task of not only having to think of eye catching designs to market your business but also the mind draining responsibility of having to learn the software to design it (cuz seriously, ain't nobody got time for that).

Been Pimpin' Pixels Since '07

I started my design journey in 2007 when I started designing business cards and party invitations for family and friends. February 2010 however, marked the official beginning of J. Ward Design Studio. Although I'm an extreme introvert, my quick wit (some call it sarcasm but whatever) and southern drawl are quite infectious. I'm about 75% round the way girl, 20% bougie chick and 5% thuggalicious (those percentages are subject to change depending on the situation so govern yourself accordingly). I luh God and trap music and I'm known to quote lyrics from 80s and 90s R&B and hip hop songs at will (don't judge me).

I reside in Ridgeland, MS with my photographer husband (folks call him PAR) and my two minis: future music producer or world renowned musician Jordan and my precious ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) Supastar Jessica (check out her Etsy shop).

When I'm not behind my computer servicing clients all over the globe, I enjoy traveling with my friends and family whom I affectionately refer to as my boo thangs, going to live shows and savoring a good meal. When I am behind my computer, I'm probably peeking over the monitor wondering when they gonna free Ghost (they finally did!) or checking out my girls Rose, Dorothy, Sophia and Blanche.

creating a strategic alliance to eliminate design dilemma so that you can focus on your craft.

I'm here as your design PARTNER. My mission is to empower you with the visual clarity to attract your business boos and not these bugaboos that have you questioning why you went into business in the first place, the confidence to strut in your greatness unapologetically, and the peace of mind of knowing someone has your back and "gets" your brand.

I believe that kindness will get you much further in life than being an asshole and being pretty can only get you so far. Pretty has to have purpose in order to maintain longevity.

Do you...

  • avoid sending people to your website because it looks like it was built during the MySpace era?

  • love what you do but find yourself frustrated with who you work with?

  • want a brand style with a strong foundation?

  • want to grow your business online?

  • play it small despite having been in business for a few years?

  • fully accept that design ain't your ministry and want a designer on your team; someone who "gets" your brand and can work with you on ongoing projects?

  • need to invest in a consistent brand style that will elevate your business, increase your exposure and showcase your expertise?

So...how does this thing work exactly?

Step one: Let's Chat

Before any work begins, before I relieve you of the stress of trying to figure out how to brand your business, we need to see if we can vibe. After completing a client survey, we'll have a scheduled interview session (yes, interview honey) to see how if you can get jiggy with the way I work and to see if I'm the right choice for your business. So make sure you have your questions ready because I'll be ready with mine. If we see that we can make this thang work, it's time to take it to the next step. Click here to get started.

Step Two: Payments, contracts and all that other jazz

Once we've decided that you and I together are a match made in heaven, you will receive a proposal outlining the scope of work (what we're working on), project timeline (how long it's gonna take) and your investment (how much it's gonna cost). There is a minimum of 25% due to reserve a spot for branding packages. Once you've reserved your spot, "Let's Get Busy!" cue Arsenio Hall

Step Three: Time to do your homework

After your payment is made and contract is signed, your next message will come from me via your client portal to kick of the beginning of the project. Once your project starts, you'll need to gather info on your brand to better help me create a style that fits your company's new look. You will start a Pinterest board and fill it with inspirational photos that inspires you and share it with me for review and complete your design workbook. Based on the original timeline, we will then create the agreed upon design for proofing.

Step Four: The Brand Strategy Pow-Wow

After your homework is complete and before I get started on the design process, you and I will have a live video chat where I'll go over your homework answers and Pinterest board pins. We'll spend about an hour and a half going over my research and based on your answers, the direction we should take in terms of the design aspect of your brand. It is at this time you'll give me a yay or nay and we'll work out any potential design kinks.

Step Four: Proofing and Approval

All proofs will be uploaded to your client portal. I'll check in with you weekly on the progress of our project. Digital designs include 3 rounds of revisions and web designs include 2 rounds of revisions.

How I know what you need

First of all (I feel like starting anything off with "first of all" really grabs your attention, LOL),

  • I have 10+ years of pixel pushing my way around Adobe Creative Suite for clients that include celebrity event designers, editorial make-up artists, international photographers, bridal show producers, salon owners, real estate brokers and a luxury travel company. Through years of trial and error, fails and wins, I've been able to help build both personal and company brands viewed all over the globe.
  • I've been where you are! I've been so busy that I didn't have time for sleep let alone building a brand. I know what it's like to not show up because you don't have your shit together but you know what you want to do and can't. I know what it's like spending hours upon hours trying to learn something just long enough to mesh some crap together so that you'll have SOMETHING when you really needed to be focusing on that thing you're awesome at that would bring in the coinage. I also know what it's like to finally cave in and hire help. I know what it's like to work with someone who "gets" me and helps me align myself with my true being. I've had the "aha" moment. And I want to be there when you have yours.
