Friday Feature: The Glass House Hair & Beauty Salon
This week’s Feature Friday is Master Stylist and Salon Owner Ebonie Glass of The Glass House Hair & Beauty Salon
Ebonie reached out to me to design her website but our business relationship dates back to 2009 when I 1st designed her business cards. At the time Ebonie was creating custom wigs, something that wasn’t widely common at that time. She has a very keen eye for precision not only in her work but in the work of others as well.
Ebonie's business card from 2009. As you can see, she's always been about healthy hair.
Over the years, Ebonie continued to craft her skillset, studying until the tutelage of names like Najah Aziz, Jasmine Collins, Kim Handy, and Nichole Howard. In 2014, Ebonie stepped out on faith and on her own to start The Glass House Hair & Beauty Salon.
While she has over 10 years of experience in weaving, coloring and natural hair styling, Ebonie’s claim to fame is short hair. The salon’s mission is to provide creative, cutting edge, skilled beauty services to our clientele in an upscale, friendly and cooperative atmosphere.
Once she had the salon up and running smoothly, Ebonie reached out to me to take her business online. With an already impressive Instagram following, she knew that to reach the level she wanted and be seen as a true professional, she needed a website. Ebonie wanted to be seen not only by clients but potential salon employees, partners and stylists as a hair industry powerhouse.
When asked what her 5 year goals were, Ebonie responded.
“In five years I see Us being the number one healthy hair salon in Jackson.”
Now Hiring Flyer
Ebonie's appointment book stays full of cropped coif appointments so she decided it was time to bring on a few other stylists who wanted to learn her same skillset. Before we began web design, Ebonie needed flyers to distribute at local hair schools for her new positions. She already had a natural stylist at the salon and needed another short hair specialist to help with the influx of clients inquiring her services. Working with Ebonie would mean getting personalized training from Ebonie herself, an online booking calendar to schedule clients with ease and a beautiful, professional work environment.
A full sheet print flyer as well as a social media flyer was created to market the new position. A Landing page was designed to collect information from potential new hires.
This design targeted stylists and nail technicians who not only wanted a salon to work at but wanted to level-up their skillset and work in an environment that would support their growth.

With a current brand in place, Ebonie had professional photos taken of her best work to display in the photo gallery as well as website headers. I can’t stress the importance of the imagery used on this site. It was the guiding force of the whole design. Without them we wouldn’t have been able to create the powerhouse vision that represents The Glass House brand.
The Glass House Hair & Beauty Salon was created for the savvy woman on the go. With over 80% mobile visitors and nearly 50% of them coming from Instagram, an easy to navigate mobile responsive site was created so visitors can transition seamlessly from Instagram to the website without disruption or frustration. Frequently asked questions, policies, consultation information, and links to book your favorite stylists is all available in one click.
This website is for current and potential clients who are searching for a professional stylist who will not only style their hair but also educate them on how to maintain and care for their hair in between visits. Social proof is available on every page with a sliding testimonial in the footer. The Glass House Hair is where healthy hair lives and it is shown through the website.
With the website in place, Ebonie wanted a postcard that she could use to promote the salon’s services. A promotional postcard was designed to do just that. Her existing logo and photos were used to display the type of work featured at The Glass House along with a 10% off incentive to new clients.
Ebonie’s target for this postcard is stylish women who love their cropped coils and want a professional environment for upkeep and a place to go for protective styles that will leave her hair strong and healthy. This woman wants a classic style with an unexpected element like head turning color or a sew-in to protect her natural hair.
